When i grew up Garfield was the school that took
everyone no one else wanted. It was a continuation
school, for problem children and underage mothers.
I hated Garfield, it was like the school from
Dangerous Minds, kinda =) .... Now i went by there
the other day, and its an elementary school, and
looks like a good one too, the school has been
completely redone. I have to say im glad. The
neighborhood is strange though, i know the place
that was the mortuary/Creamatoryium for like 25
years is now

Teachers are great. Communication with parents is
unbelievable. Classrooms aren't over crowded and
confortable.

My son has been with TCPS since Kindergarten and
is now in the 5th grade. I wanted a place where he
could develop in a kind and responsive social
environment and not get lost in the crowd --- and
this is what we've found at TCPS. Their cross-age
activities prove to be very valuable to social
development as well. The curriculum is advanced,
but allows each child to work within their level
without being left behind or lacking stimulation.

My daughter started at Waldorf last year for first
grade. It is a wonderful environment for children
and so rich an atmosphere for learning and the
young emerging soul. French, music, and movement
are all weekly staples of her academic life.
Definitely attend one of the quarterly "Walk thru
the Grades" tours. You'll be delighted and amazed
seeing the children at "work."
